Thrown-away Things and New Art
This artwork was created by Kurt Schwitters.
He used thrown-away objects to make artwork.
He often said, “Old things are good for art.”
Schwitters walked the streets and collected not only pieces of paper but also bits of wood.
He glued and nailed them to a board, and created a new style of art, Rubbish.
In 1937, he moved to Norway.
He was able to take his famous work out of Germany because it looked like rubbish.
What old things do you have around you?
What new artwork can you make out of them?
Use your imagination and create something new.
