Try the Marshmallow Challenge!
You need:
20 sticks of spaghetti
1 marshmallow
1 meter of tape
1 meter of string
Rules:
· Each team has four people.
· You have to build the tallest tower in your class.
· The marshmallow must be on top.
· The tower must stand by itself.
· The time limit is 15 minutes.

How did you do the marshmallow challenge?
Every team does the marshmallow challenge differently.
Let’s look at some examples.
Which one do you like best?
TEAM A
Think before you act.
We had many good ideas.
We talked about each idea in detail.
It was not easy for us to choose the best idea.
Suddenly the teacher said, “Five minutes left.”
In a hurry, we taped the sticks of spaghetti together.
Then, we wrapped the string around them.
The string got stuck to the tape and it was a big mess.
With one second left, I put the marshmallow on top!
TEAM B
Just do it.
We didn’t spend much time on planning.
All the members started building the tower right away.
Our first tower looked like a tent.
It wasn’t very tall.
We tried again.
The next tower was tall but it couldn’t stand by itself.
After many tries, it was possible for us to build a beautiful and tall tower.
It looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
We finally made what we wanted!
TEAM C
We’re one team.
We didn’t try to choose the best idea.
Instead, we took a good idea and improved on it.
One student said we needed a strong base.
Another student suggested a triangle shape for the base.
We all agreed and divided up the roles such as time checker and tape cutter.
We worked together as a team.
In the end, we built our tall tower!
