Try the Marshmallow Challenge!

마시멜로 과제를 해 보세요!

 

You need:

• 20 sticks of spaghetti

• 1 marshmallow

• 1 meter of tape

• 1 meter of string

여러분은 필요해요:

• 스파게티 면 20개

• 마시멜로 1개

• 테이프 1미터

• 끈 1미터

 

Rules:

• Each team has four people.

• You have to build the tallest tower in your class.

• The marshmallow must be on top.

• The tower must stand by itself.

• The time limit is 15 minutes.

규칙:

• 각 팀은 4명입니다.

• 반에서 가장 높은 탑을 만들어야 합니다.

• 마시멜로가 꼭대기에 있어야 합니다.

• 탑은 스스로 서 있어야 합니다.

• 제한 시간은 15분입니다.

TEAM A

A팀

Think before you act.

행동하기 전에 생각해라.

We had many good ideas.

우리에게는 좋은 아이디어가 많았어요.

 

We talked about each idea in detail.

우리는 각 아이디어에 대해 자세히 이야기를 나눴어요.

 

It was not easy for us to choose the best idea.

우리는 가장 좋은 아이디어를 고르는 것이 쉽지 않았어요.

 

Suddenly the teacher said, “Five minutes left.”

갑자기 선생님께서 “5분 남았어요.”라고 말씀하셨어요.

 

In a hurry, we taped the sticks of spaghetti together.

서둘러 우리는 스파게티 면들을 테이프로 붙였어요.

 

Then, we wrapped the string around them.

그러고 나서 우리는 스파게티 면을 끈으로 감았어요.

 

The string got stuck to the tape and it was a big mess.

끈이 테이프에 붙었고 아주 엉망진창이었어요.

 

With one second left, I put the marshmallow on top!

1초를 남겨 놓고, 내가 마시멜로를 꼭대기에 꽂았어요!

 

 

TEAM B

B팀

Just do it.

그냥 해라.

 

We didn’t spend much time on planning.

우리는 계획하는 데 많은 시간을 보내지 않았어요.

 

All the members started building the tower right away.

모든 팀원들이 바로 탑을 만들기 시작했어요.

 

Our first tower looked like a tent.

우리의 첫 번째 탑은 텐트 같았어요.

 

It wasn’t very tall. We tried again.

그건 그다지 높지 않았어요. 우리는 다시 시도했어요.

 

The next tower was tall but it couldn’t stand by itself.

다음 탑은 높았지만 스스로 서 있지 못했어요.

 

After many tries, it was possible for us to build a beautiful and tall tower.

많은 시도 후에 우리는 아름답고 높은 탑을 만들 수 있었어요.

 

It looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

그것은 피사의 사탑 같았어요.

 

We finally made what we wanted!

우리는 결국 우리가 원했던 것을 만들었어요!

 

 

TEAM C

C팀

We’re one team.

우리는 한 팀이다.

 

We didn’t try to choose the best idea.

우리는 가장 좋은 아이디어를 고르려고 하지 않았어요.

 

Instead, we took a good idea and improved on it.

대신에, 우리는 좋은 아이디어를 골라 발전시켰어요.

 

One student said we needed a strong base.

한 친구가 우리에게는 튼튼한 밑받침이 필요하다고 말했어요.

 

Another student suggested a triangle shape for the base.

다른 친구는 밑받침으로 삼각형 모양을 제안했어요.

 

We all agreed and divided up the roles such as time checker and tape cutter.

우리 모두는 동의했고 시간 점검하는 사람과 테이프 자르는 사람과 같이 역할을 나눴어요.

 

We worked together as a team. In the end, we built our tall tower!

우리는 하나의 팀으로 함께 일했어요. 마침내, 우리는 높은 탑을 만들었어요!
