오드리의 정신

During World War II, a little girl and her mother were hungry and sick.

제2차 세계 대전 동안, 한 어린 소녀와 그녀의 어머니는 굶주리고 아팠다. 

 

The only food that they could find was grass.

그들이 찾을 수 있었던 유일한 식량은 풀뿐이었다. 

 

The little girl felt scared all the time.

어린 소녀는 내내 겁에 질려 있었다. 

 

Luckily, the girl survived, thanks to the help of others.

다행히도 소녀는 다른 사람들의 도움 덕분에 살아남았다. 

 

One of the groups that helped her was UNICEF.

그녀를 도와준 단체 중 하나는 유니세프(국제연합 아동기금)였다. 

 

Later, the girl became a worldwide movie star. Her name was Audrey Hepburn.

후에, 소녀는 세계적인 영화배우가 되었다. 그녀의 이름은 오드리 헵번이었다.

 

When she grew up, Hepburn became a symbol of beauty.

헵번이 자랐을 때, 그녀는 아름다움의 상징이 되었다. 

 

She was very popular because of her hit movies, such as My Fair Lady and Roman Holiday.

그녀는 〈마이 페어 레이디〉와 〈로마의 휴일>과 같은 흥행 영화들로 인해 매우 인기가 있었다. 

 

The little black dress which she wore in a movie is famous even today.

Many people still love her style.

The autumn of 1987 was a turning point in Hepburn’s life.

She went to an international music festival in Macau.

그녀는 마카오의 한 국제 음악 축제에 갔다. 

 

Many people donated money at the festival, and the money went to UNICEF.

Thanks to her fame, UNICEF collected more money than ever before.

Hepburn realized that her fame could help others, so she became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

First, Hepburn went to Ethiopia in 1988.

먼저, 헵번은 1988년에 에티오피아로 갔다. 

 

There, she brought food to hungry children.

그곳에서 그녀는 굶주린 아이들에게 음식을 가져다주었다. 

 

She was shocked because their lives were very difficult.

After that, she volunteered in other countries.

In 1990, she visited Vietnam to hand out medicine and support clean drinking water programs.

To honor her, UNICEF made a statue, The Spirit of Audrey.

그녀를 존경하는 사람들이 그녀의 사명을 존속시키고 있다. 

 

Her favorite saying shows her mission.

As you get older, remember you have two hands.

나이가 들어갈수록, 당신에게 두 개의 손이 있다는 것을 기억하라. 

 

One is for helping yourself, and the other is for helping others.

한 손은 자신을 돕기 위한 것이고, 다른 한 손은 타인을 돕기 위한 것이다.
