기술 도핑

Doping in sports usually involves drugs that players illegally take to gain an unfair advantage in performance.

스포츠에서 도핑은 일반적으로 선수가 경기력에서 부당한 이득을 얻기 위해 불법적으로 복용하는 약물과 관련된다.

 

As technology advances, however, doping is done not only with drugs but also with their equipment.

하지만 기술이 발전함에 따라 도핑은 약물뿐만 아니라 장비를 가지고도 한다.

 

That's why the term 'technology doping' was coined, referring to any form of unfair advantage gained from technology by a player or a team.

그것이 ‘기술 도핑’이라는 용어가 만들어진 이유이며, 이는 선수나 팀이 기술을 통해 얻은 모든 형태의 불공정한 이득을 가리킨다.

 

In the 2008 Olympic swimming competitions, when 23 out of 25 world records were set by those in a particular swim suit, investigations concluded that it was a case of technology doping.

2008년 올림픽 수영 종목에서 25개의 세계 기록 중 23개가 특정 수영복을 입은 선수들에 의해 세워졌을 때, 조사를 통해 그것이 기술 도핑의 한 사례라는 결론이 내려졌다.

 

Recently, in a 2016 international cycling event, a cyclist from Belgium was accused of technology doping when a small machine was found inside her bike frame that gave her extra power while she pedaled.

Such attempts should be banned in all sports competitions. In order to preserve and promote the core value of fair competition among players, the governing bodies of various sporting events should seek measures to prevent technology doping from entering into their events.

그런 시도들은 모든 스포츠 대회에서 금지되어야 한다. 선수들 간의 공정한 경기의 핵심 가치를 유지하고 고취시키기 위해서 여러 스포츠 행사를 관리하는 기구들은 기술 도핑이 경기에 개입되는 것을 막기 위한 조치들을 모색해야 한다.

 

Technology has not been developed as an illegal weapon for gaining an unfair advantage.

기술은 불공정한 이득을 얻기 위한 불법적인 수단으로서 개발된 것이 아니다.
