Soccer Field of Dreams

꿈의 축구장

My name is Anurak, and I live in a small floating village in Thailand..

내 이름은 Anurak이고, 나는 태국의 작은 수상 마을에 산다.

 

One night, my friends and I were watching the final match of the World Cup on TV.

어느 날 밤, 친구들과 나는 TV로 월드컵 결승전을 보고 있었다.

 

When the game ended, I said, “Let’s start our own soccer team.

경기가 끝났을 때, 내가 말했다. “우리들만의 축구팀을 한번 시작해 보자.

 

Maybe we can become world champions!”

어쩌면 우리가 세계 챔피언이 될 수도 있잖아!”

 

We thought that it was a great idea.

우리는 그것이 멋진 발상이라고 생각했다.

 

However, the villagers laughed at us.

하지만 마을 주민들은 우리를 비웃었다.

 

They said, “Look around you.

그들은 말했다. “너희 주위를 둘러봐라.

 

There is no land.

땅이라곤 없어.

 

Where are you going to play soccer?”

어디에서 축구를 할 거니?”

 

We were sad at first, but we got an idea.

우리는 처음에는 슬펐지만, 한 가지 생각이 떠올랐다.

 

We decided to make a soccer field on the sea.

우리는 바다 위에 축구장을 만들기로 결심했다.

 

First, we collected wood pieces.

먼저, 우리는 나무 판자들을 모았다.

 

Then we tied and nailed them together.

그런 후, 그것들을 함께 묶어 못으로 박았다.

 

After we worked hard for months, we finally had our floating soccer field!

몇 달 동안 열심히 일한 후에, 우리는 마침내 물 위에 떠 있는 우리들의 축구장을 만들었다!

 

We were very happy.

우리는 매우 기뻤다.

 

Our soccer field was not perfect.

우리의 축구장은 완벽하지 않았다.

 

It was small and shaky, so the ball often went into the sea.

Nails were sticking out here and there.

못이 여기저기에 튀어나와 있었다.

 

However, we loved our soccer field.

그러나 우리는 우리의 축구장을 무척 좋아했다.

 

We played soccer on it every day.

우리는 매일 그 위에서 축구를 했다.

 

About three months later, we saw a poster about a soccer tournament.

약 세 달 뒤, 우리는 축구 대회에 관한 포스터를 보았다.

 

I said, “Let’s enter it!”

“참가해 보자!”라고 내가 말했다.

 

We all agreed.

우리는 모두 동의했다.

 

Then we started to practice hard for the tournament.

그리고 우리는 대회를 위해 열심히 연습하기 시작했다.

 

Before our first game started, we were nervous.

우리의 첫 경기가 시작되기 전, 우리는 긴장했다.

 

However, playing soccer on land was easier than playing on our floating field.

그러나 땅 위에서 축구를 하는 것은 물 위에 떠 있는 우리의 축구장에서 하는 것보다 더 쉬웠다.

 

All the villagers cheered for us.

마을 주민들 모두가 우리를 응원해 주었다.

 

We did very well and took third place!

우리는 매우 잘했고, 3위를 차지했다!

 

We were proud.

우리는 자랑스러웠다.

 

At first, playing soccer was just a dream for us.

처음에는 축구를 하는 것이 우리에게 단지 꿈에 불과했다.

 

Now we have our own soccer field and soccer team.

이제 우리는 우리들만의 축구장과 축구팀이 있다.

 

Can we really be world champions some day?

우리가 언젠가 정말로 세계 챔피언이 될 수 있을까?

 

We believe it is possible.

우리는 그것이 가능하다고 믿는다.

 

We will work together and never give up.

우리는 협력할 것이며 절대 포기하지 않을 것이다.
