샬롯의 거미줄

Fern: Hi! My name is Fern. I’m Wilbur’s friend.

Fern: 안녕하세요! 제 이름은 Fern이에요. 저는 Wilbur의 친구예요.

 

Mr. Zuckerman: I’m Fern’s uncle. Call me Mr. Zuckerman.

Mr. Zuckerman: 저는 Fern의 삼촌이에요. Zuckerman이라고 불러 주세요.

 

Mrs. Zuckerman: I’m Mr. Zuckerman’s wife.

Mrs. Zuckerman: 저는 Zuckerman씨의 아내예요.

 

Lurvy: I’m Lurvy. I work on Mr. Zuckerman’s farm.

Lurvy: 저는 Lurvy예요. 저는 Zuckerman씨의 농장에서 일해요.

 

Sheep: I’m Sheep. I live on this farm.

Sheep: 저는 Sheep이에요. 이 농장에서 살고 있어요.

 

Templeton: I’m Templeton. Food is my life!

Templeton: 저는 Templeton이에요. 음식이 곧 제 삶이에요!

 

Goose: My name is Goose. I sit on my eggs.

Goose: 제 이름은 Goose예요. 저는 알을 품고 있어요.

 

Gander: You already met my wife. I’m Gander.

Gander: 제 아내를 이미 만났군요. 저는 Gander예요.

 

SCENE 1

1장

Wilbur was a little pig on Mr. Zuckerman’s farm.

Wilbur는 Zuckerman씨의 농장에 있는 어린 돼지였다.

 

He was bored and wanted a friend.

그는 지루했고 친구를 만들고 싶어 했다.

 

But all the other animals were too busy.

하지만 다른 모든 동물들은 너무 바빴다.

 

Then one day, he met a spider.

그러던 어느 날, 그는 거미를 만났다.

 

Wilbur: Hi, there. I’m Wilbur. What’s your name?

Wilbur: 안녕하세요. 저는 Wilbur예요. 이름이 뭐예요?

 

Charlotte: My name is Charlotte.

Charlotte: 내 이름은 Charlotte이야.

 

Wilbur: Charlotte. That’s a great name.

Wilbur: Charlotte. 멋진 이름이네요.

 

Charlotte: Thank you. I agree.

Charlotte: 고마워. 나도 그렇게 생각해.

 

Wilbur: Your web is really cool.

Wilbur: 거미줄이 정말 멋지네요.

 

Charlotte: Thank you. Uhmmm. Your tail is... well... really curly.

Charlotte: 고마워. 너의 꼬리는⋯ 음⋯ 정말 똘똘 말려 있구나.

 

Wilbur: Thanks! Do you want to be my friend, Charlotte?

Wilbur: 고마워요! 저와 친구가 되지 않을래요, Charlotte?

 

Charlotte: Sure. Why not?

Charlotte: 물론이지. 왜 안 되겠니?

 

Wilbur: Yay!

Wilbur: 야호!

 

SCENE 2

2장

Wilbur made a new friend.

Wilbur는 새로운 친구가 생겼다.

 

He was very happy.

그는 매우 행복했다.

 

But the other animals didn’t feel the same way.

하지만 다른 동물들은 똑같이 생각하지 않았다.

 

Templeton: Did he just make friends with that spider?

Templeton: Wilbur가 방금 저 거미와 친구가 된 거니?

 

Goose: I think so. I can’t believe it.

Goose: 그런 것 같아. 믿을 수가 없어.

 

Gander: He doesn’t know anything. He’s just a silly pig.

Gander: 그는 아무것도 몰라. 그저 어리석은 돼지일 뿐이야.

 

Templeton: Hey, Wilbur. No one likes spiders.

Templeton: 이봐, Wilbur. 아무도 거미를 좋아하지 않아.

 

Wilbur: Huh? I don’t get it. Why?

Wilbur: 네? 이해가 안 돼요. 왜죠?

 

Goose: She looks scary.

Goose: 그녀는 무섭게 생겼잖아.

 

Gander: Yeah. Look at those hairy legs. Eeeewwwww!

Gander: 그래. 저 텁수룩한 다리를 봐! 으으으!

 

Wilbur: I think she’s beautiful.

Wilbur: 저는 그녀가 아름답다고 생각해요.

 

Templeton: I think you need glasses.

Templeton: 너는 안경이 필요한 것 같구나.

 

Wilbur: I have perfect eyes, thank you.

Wilbur: 걱정은 고맙지만, 내 눈은 좋아요.

 

She’s beautiful and nice.

그녀는 아름답고 다정해요.

 

Sheep: Be nice to the pig. He doesn’t have much time anyway.

Sheep: 돼지에게 잘해줘. 그는 어쨌든 시간이 많지 않아.

 

Wilbur: What do you mean? I have a lot of time.

Wilbur: 무슨 말이에요? 저는 시간이 많아요.

 

Sheep: The farmers give you lots of food. There is a reason for that.

Sheep: 농부들이 너에게 많은 음식을 주잖아. 그런 데에는 이유가 있어.

 

Wilbur: Because they like me?

Wilbur: 그들이 저를 좋아하기 때문에요?

 

Sheep: Silly pig. They are preparing you for the Christmas dinner.

Sheep: 어리석은 돼지구나. 그들은 너를 크리스마스 만찬을 위해 준비하고 있어.

 

Wilbur: Great! I love Christmas and I love dinner.

Wilbur: 좋네요! 저는 크리스마스도 좋아하고 만찬도 좋아해요.

 

Templeton: You are the Christmas din....

Templeton: 네가 그 크리스마스 만⋯.

 

Goose and Gander: (to Templeton) Shhh! That’s enough. Not another word.

Goose & Gander: (Templeton에게) 쉿! 그쯤 해 둬. 더 이상 말하지 마.

 

SCENE 3

3장

Wilbur later found out the farmers’ plan.

Wilbur는 나중에 농부의 계획을 알게 되었다.

 

He was very sad.

그는 몹시 슬펐다.

 

He didn’t want to be the Christmas dinner.

그는 크리스마스 만찬이 되고 싶지 않았다.

 

So, Charlotte decided to help Wilbur.

그래서 Charlotte은 Wilbur를 돕기로 결심했다.

 

All night, she spun a web.

밤새 그녀는 거미줄을 쳤다.

 

In the morning, there were two words in her web.

아침에 그녀의 거미줄에는 두 단어가 있었다.

 

The people on the farm were very surprised.

농장 사람들은 매우 놀랐다.

 

Lurvy: Am I seeing things?

Lurvy: 내가 무엇을 보고 있는 거지?

 

Fern: I can’t believe my eyes.

Fern: 제 눈을 믿을 수 없어요.

 

Mrs. Zuckerman: How can that be possible?

Mrs. Zuckerman: 어떻게 그게 가능할 수 있지?

 

Mr. Zuckerman: I have no idea.

Mr. Zuckerman: 나도 모르겠어.

 

Lurvy: What does “50ME PIG” mean anyway? There’s only on pig here.

Lurvy: 그나저나 ‘50ME 돼지’가 무슨 뜻이지? 여기 돼지는 한 마리밖에 없어.

 

Fern: It doesn’t say that, Lurvy. It says, “SOME PIG.”

Fern: 그 말이 아니에요, Lurvy. ‘평범하지 않은 돼지’라고 쓰여 있어요.

 

Lurvy: Hey, you’re right, Fern! Wilbur is some pig for sure.

Lurvy: 이런, 네가 맞아. Fern! Wilbur는 확실히 평범하지 않은 돼지야.

 

Fern: I told you, Uncle!

Fern: 제가 말했잖아요, 삼촌!

 

Wilbur is not an ordinary pig. We shouldn’t hurt him.

Wilbur는 평범한 돼지가 아니에요. 우리는 그를 해쳐선 안 돼요.

 

Mr. Zuckerman: No. Wilbur is an ordinary pig.

Mr. Zuckerman: 아니. Wilbur는 평범한 돼지야.

 

But the spider is not an ordinary spider.

하지만 거미는 평범한 거미가 아니네.

 

Mrs. Zuckerman: Well, one thing is for sure.

Mrs. Zuckerman: 글쎄, 한 가지는 확실해.

 

This is not an ordinary story.

이것은 평범한 이야기가 아니야.

 

Word traveled around the whole town.

소문은 마을 전체에 퍼졌다.

 

Wilbur became very famous.

Wilbur는 매우 유명해졌다.

 

Now the Zuckermans could not eat Wilbur.

이제 Zuckerman 가족은 Wilbur를 먹을 수 없었다.

 

But soon people forgot about Wilbur.

하지만 곧 사람들은 Wilbur를 잊었다.

 

He was in danger again.

그는 다시 위험에 처했다.

 

Charlotte had to come up with a new plan.

Charlotte은 새로운 계획을 생각해야만 했다.
