The Story of Little Annie’s Life

꼬마 Annie의 인생 이야기

There was a little blind girl in a hospital.

한 병원에 눈이 보이지 않는 작은 소녀가 있었다.

 

She was always angry.

그녀는 항상 화가 나 있었다.

 

When people tried to help her, she screamed and attacked them.

사람들이 그녀를 도우려고 할 때, 그녀는 소리를 지르고 그들을 공격했다.

 

People called her “Crazy Little Annie,” and didn’t try to help her anymore.

사람들은 그녀를 “Crazy Little Annie”라고 불렀고, 더 이상 그녀를 도우려 하지 않았다.

 

The poor girl needed somebody to take care of her.

그 가엾은 소녀는 자신을 돌봐줄 사람이 필요했다.

 

One day, an old nurse came to the hospital.

어느 날, 나이 든 간호사가 병원에 왔다.

 

She volunteered to help Annie.

그녀는 Annie를 돕는 것을 자원했다.

 

When Annie met her, she started throwing things again.

However, the nurse wasn’t afraid of her.

The nurse said to Annie, “Hi, Annie. I’m Nurse Laura.

Every night, Laura went to Annie’s room and put her to bed.

She said to Annie, “Annie, I do love you. I’ll always be there for you.”

Laura knew that Annie needed love and understanding.

With Laura’s help, Annie got better little by little.

Two years later, Annie didn’t scream or throw things.

She did become a totally different person.

People didn’t call her “Crazy Little Annie” anymore.

사람들은 더 이상 그녀를 “Crazy Little Annie”라고 부르지 않았다.

 

Laura decided to leave the hospital with Annie.

Laura는 Annie와 함께 병원을 떠나기로 했다.

 

She took Annie to a school for blind children.

그녀는 Annie를 시각 장애 아이들을 위한 학교에 데려갔다.

 

Annie loved her new school and studied hard.

Annie는 새로운 학교를 정말 좋아했고 열심히 공부했다.

 

She wanted to become a teacher and help others like Nurse Laura did.

그녀는 교사가 되어 간호사 Laura가 했던 것처럼 다른 사람들을 돕고 싶었다.

 

However, a few years later, Laura passed away.

하지만 몇 년 후 Laura는 세상을 떠났다.

 

Annie was very sad, but she did not give up on her dream.

Then one day, Annie met a nice doctor.

He helped Annie to see well.

It was a miracle for Annie.

그것은 Annie에게 기적이었다.

 

At last, Annie realized her dream and became a teacher.

마침내 Annie는 꿈을 이루어 교사가 되었다.

 

This gave her a chance to meet a special student.

이것은 그녀에게 특별한 학생을 만날 기회를 주었다.

 

The student wasn’t able to hear or see.

그 학생은 듣거나 볼 수 없었다.

 

Instead, she screamed and threw things.

대신에 그녀는 소리를 지르고 물건들을 던졌다.

 

She was just like Crazy Little Annie.

그녀는 마치 Crazy Little Annie 같았다.

 

Annie said to her, “Hi, Helen Keller.

Annie는 그녀에게 말했다. “안녕, Helen Keller.

 

I’m your teacher, Anne Sullivan. I’ll always be there for you.”

나는 너의 선생님 Anne Sullivan이야. 내가 항상 너의 곁에 있을게.”
