쓰레기를 없애기 도전

We all had a "No Trash Challenge" day last month.

우리는 모두 지난달에 ‘쓰레기를 없애기 위한 도전’의 날을 가졌습니다. 

 

The winner was Grade 2 Class 3.

우승자는 2학년 3반이었습니다. 

 

Let's read the interview and learn a few tips for living green.

인터뷰를 읽고 친환경적으로 살기 위한 몇 가지 비결을 배웁시다. 

 

Do Not Use Wrapping Paper

포장지를 사용하지 마라

Reporter: You threw a class birthday party, but didn't produce a lot of trash.

기자: 여러분은 학급 생일 파티를 열었지만, 쓰레기가 많이 나오지 않았어요. 

 

What were your secrets?

비결이 무엇이었습니까? 

 

Minsu: First, we agreed not to wrap our gifts, because some wrapping paper is not easily recycled.

민수: 우선, 우리는 몇몇 포장지가 쉽게 재활용되지 않기 때문에 선물을 포장하지 않는 것에 동의했습니다. 

 

So we brought gifts such as teddy bears, key rings, and hairpins that were not wrapped at all.

Buy the Largest Size

Jieun: Also, we chose the largest size when we bought ice cream and cookies for the party.

Larger sizes use less packaging and make less trash.

크기가 더 크면 포장을 더 적게 사용하고 쓰레기를 더 적게 만들어 내거든요.

 

Eat the Plates

접시를 먹어라 

Reporter: And how did you serve the ice cream?

기자: 그리고 아이스크림을 어떻게 나누어 주었나요? 

 

Junha: We served it on plates.

준하: 우리는 접시에 그것을 나누어 주었습니다. 

 

You know what? We ate even the plates after we used them.

그거 아세요? 우리는 접시를 사용한 후에 그것까지도 먹었어요. 

 

Reporter: You ate the plates? What do you mean by that?

기자: 접시를 먹었다고요? 그게 무슨 뜻이죠? 

 

Junha: Actually, we used popped rice cakes as plates, so we could eat them and leave nothing behind!

준하: 사실, 우리는 뻥튀기를 접시로 사용해서, 그것들을 먹고 아무것도 남기지 않을 수 있었어요! 

 

Reporter: Ah, I get it. That's quite interesting.

기자: 아, 알겠어요. 그거 꽤 흥미롭군요.

 

Bring Your Own Things

여러분 자신의 물건을 가져와라 

Reporter: What about cups and spoons?

기자: 컵과 숟가락은 어떻게 했나요? 

 

Minsu: We didn't use paper cups or plastic spoons.

민수: 우리는 종이컵이나 플라스틱 숟가락을 사용하지 않았습니다. 

 

Instead, we brought our own cups and spoons from home and then took them back.

대신에, 우리는 자신의 컵과 숟가락을 집에서 가져온 후, 다시 가져갔습니다. 

 

Use Cloth Napkins

천 냅킨을 사용해라 

Reporter: What else did you do to make less trash?

Jieun: We used cloth napkins. You know, paper napkins are not good for your skin.

Reporter: But where did you get the cloth napkins?

Jieun: They were made by Minji.

She cut up her old cotton shirt to make some for us.

그녀가 우리에게 몇 개를 만들어 주기 위해 자신의 낡은 면 셔츠를 잘랐어요. 

 

Everyone liked her cute napkins.

Leave No Food Behind

음식을 남기지 마라 

Reporter: Please give us one simple tip for reducing trash.

기자: 우리에게 쓰레기를 줄이기 위한 간단한 조언을 하나만 해 주세요. 

 

Junha: Don't leave any food on your plate.

준하: 접시에 음식을 남기지 마세요. 

 

Food waste really is a big problem. But see?

음식 쓰레기는 정말 큰 문제입니다. 하지만 아시죠? 

 

We ate everything, even our plates, ha-ha.

우리는 모두 다 먹었죠, 접시까지도요, 하하.
