심폐 소생술이 생명을 구하다

Announcer: Yesterday, a teenager saved the life of an old man.

아나운서: 어제, 한 십대 청소년이 한 노인의 생명을 구했습니다.

 

The brave student is in the studio with us today.

오늘 그 용감한 학생이 우리와 함께 스튜디오에 나와 있습니다.

 

Please introduce yourself.

자기소개 부탁드립니다.

 

Sejin: My name is Kim Sejin. I'm in the second grade at Hanguk Middle School.

세진: 제 이름은 김세진입니다. 저는 한국중학교 2학년입니다.

 

Announcer: Could you tell us your experience?

아나운서: 학생의 경험을 이야기해 줄래요?

 

Sejin: Sure. I was waiting for the bus with my friend, Jinho.

세진: 물론이죠. 저는 친구 지호와 버스를 기다리고 있었어요.

 

A man suddenly fell in front of us.

갑자기 한 남자분이 우리 앞에 쓰러지셨어요.

 

Nobody knew what to do.

아무도 무엇을 해야 할지 몰랐어요.

 

I was as scared as the others at first.

저도 처음에는 다른 사람들만큼이나 무서웠어요.

 

Then, I ran to him and tapped him on the shoulder.

그 다음에 저는 그에게 달려가서 어깨를 두드렸어요.

 

He wasn't moving or breathing.

그는 움직이지도, 숨을 쉬지도 않고 있었어요.

 

I said to Jinho, "Call 119," and started CPR.

저는 진호에게, “119에 전화해.”라고 말하고 심폐 소생술을 시작했어요.

 

Announcer: That's impressive.

아나운서: 그것 참 인상 깊네요.

 

When did you learn such an important skill?

그렇게 중요한 기술은 언제 배웠나요?

 

Sejin: We had Safety Training Day at school last week.

세진: 학교에서 지난주에 안전 교육의 날이 있었어요.

 

I learned how to do CPR and had a chance to practice.

저는 심폐 소생술을 어떻게 하는지 배웠고, 연습해 볼 기회를 가졌어요.

 

Announcer: Can you show the audience how to perform CPR?

아나운서: 시청자들에게 심폐 소생술을 어떻게 하는지 보여줄 수 있나요?

 

Sejin: Yes. Keep your arms straight.

세진: 네. 여러분의 팔을 쭉 펴세요.

 

Your arms and the other person's chest must be at a 90 degree angle.

여러분의 팔과 상대방의 가슴은 반드시 90도 각도가 되어야 합니다.

 

Push down in the center of the chest hard and fast until an ambulance comes.

구급차가 올 때까지 가슴 중앙을 세게 그리고 빠르게 누르세요.

 

Announcer: Are there any other things to remember?

아나운서: 기억해야 할 또 다른 것이 있을까요?

 

Sejin: Yes. You need to remember the four minutes of "Golden Time."

세진: 네, 여러분은 4분간의 ‘골든타임’을 기억할 필요가 있습니다.

 

It means that you should start CPR within four minutes after someone's heart stops.

그것은 누군가의 심장이 멈춘 후 당신이 4분 이내에 심폐 소생술을 시작해야 한다는 것을 의미합니다.

 

To begin CPR later than that will greatly lower the chances of saving someone's life.

그보다 더 늦게 심폐 소생술을 시작하는 것은 누군가의 목숨을 구할 수 있는 가능성을 크게 낮출 것입니다.

 

Announcer: Timing is as important as doing CPR.

아나운서: 타이밍이 심폐 소생술을 하는 것만큼이나 중요하군요.
