The Earth is in danger.

지구는 지금 위험에 처해 있습니다.

 

The air is getting dirtier every day.

공기는 매일 더러워지고 있습니다.

 

More and more animals are dying.

점점 더 많은 동물이 죽어가고 있습니다.

 

This is because we are wasting a lot of energy.

이것은 우리가 많은 에너지를 낭비하고 있기 때문입니다.

 

So how can we save energy?

그렇다면 우리는 어떻게 에너지를 절약할 수 있을까요?

 

Three different environmental clubs are here to share their activities.

The more ideas we share, the more energy we can save!

Jimin: Hello, friends. A few months ago, I was surprised to see some empty classrooms with the lights on.

That's not right at all.

It is essential for all students to use fewer resources at school.

So we have designed some resource saving stickers and put them on the switches.

They tell us which light should be turned on, so that we can waste less electricity.

We also put some stickers on the mirrors in the restrooms.

They help students not to waste water.

The more stickers we put up, the more resources we can save at school.

Dongsu: Hi, everyone. A lot of energy is used to heat and cool our school.

It is important for students to reduce the amount of energy we use.

우리가 사용하는 에너지양을 학생들이 줄이는 것이 중요합니다.

 

We did an experiment last winter and found that bubble wrap can help to save energy.

우리는 지난겨울 실험을 해서 뽁뽁이가 에너지를 절약하는 데에 도움이 된다는 것을 발견했습니다.

 

Look at this chart. In Classroom A we put bubble wrap on the windows and in Classroom B we didn't.

이 도표를 보세요. 우리는 교실 A에는 창문에 뽁뽁이를 붙였고 교실 B에는 붙이지 않았습니다.

 

When we turned off the heater, the temperature was 16 ℃ in both classrooms.

우리가 히터를 껐을 때, 두 교실 온도는 모두 16 ℃였습니다.

 

Sixty minutes later, the temperature in Classroom B went down to 7 ℃.

60분 뒤, 교실 B의 온도는 7 ℃로 내려갔습니다.

 

But it was 9 ℃ in Classroom A!

We learned that bubble wrap only lets a little heat escape from the building.

우리는 뽁뽁이가 오직 적은 양의 열만 건물에서 빠져나가게 한다는 것을 알았습니다.

 

So we started putting bubble wrap on the school windows.

그래서 우리는 학교 창문에 뽁뽁이를 붙이기 시작했습니다.

 

This will also prevent heat from getting into the classroom in the summer.

이것이 여름에 열이 교실로 들어오는 것 또한 막아 줄 것입니다.

 

The more bubble wrap we put on the windows, the cooler our summer will become! 

우리가 창문에 더 많은 뽁뽁이를 붙일수록, 우리의 여름도 더 시원해질 거예요!

 

Minwoo: Hello, friends. We decided to make a garden on the rooftop of the school to save energy.

민우: 안녕하세요, 친구들. 우리는 에너지를 절약하기 위해 학교 옥상에 정원을 만들기로 했습니다.

 

Only a few people know how it works.

오직 몇몇 사람들만이 그것이 어떻게 작용하는지 알고 있습니다.

 

It's just like bubble wrap.

그것은 마치 뽁뽁이와 같습니다.

 

It prevents heat from getting in and out of the buildings.

So when we have rooftop gardens on our buildings, we can save some of the energy we use to cool the buildings in the summer.

Also, the fresh air from the rooftop garden helps to cool the whole city.

So it is necessary for us students to make more rooftop gardens at our school!

The more beautiful our rooftops become, the less energy our school will use!

우리의 정원이 더 아름다워질수록, 우리 학교는 에너지를 덜 사용하게 될 겁니다!
