After the Story of "The Ant and the Grasshopper"
‘개미와 베짱이’의 뒷이야기
Once upon a time, in a field, a grasshopper was spending his summer days singing and dancing.
옛날에 들판에서 베짱이가 노래하고 춤추며 여름 날을 보내고 있었다.
He had plenty of food at that time.
그는 그 당시에 풍족한 식량을 가지고 있었다.
On the other hand, an ant was working hard to collect food to prepare for the winter.
반면에 개미는 겨울을 준비할 음식을 모으기 위해 열심히 일하고 있었다.
When the winter came, the grasshopper had no food and found himself dying of hunger.
겨울이 오자 베짱이는 식량이 다 떨어졌고 굶주림으로 죽어가고 있는 자신을 발견했다.
He felt hopeless.
그는 희망이 없다고 느꼈다.
At that time, the ant came to his house with food he had collected in the summer.
그때, 개미가 여름에 그가 모았던 식량을 가지고 그의 집에 왔다.
The grasshopper could hardly believe his luck.
베짱이는 그의 행운을 믿을 수가 없었다.
After having a great dinner, the grasshopper asked, "Why have you done this?

You worked so hard to gather food all summer, while I did nothing but sing and dance!"

The ant smiled and explained, "Why, Mr. Grasshopper, don't you know?

Gathering food is not hard work for an ant.
개미에게 식량을 모으는 것은 어려운 일이 아니에요.
Before you came along, summer days seemed to go very slowly.
당신이 함께하기 전에 여름 날은 매우 천천히 가는 것 같았죠.
But this summer, with your singing and dancing, my friends and I could find real pleasure in our work.
그러나 이번 여름은 당신의 노래와 춤으로 내 친구들과 나는 일에서 진정한 기쁨을 발견할 수 있었답니다.
Thanks to you, our work was not that boring.
당신 덕분에 우리 일은 더 이상 지루하지 않았어요.
So we really appreciated that."

So, from that day on, the grasshopper and the ant worked together.
