당신의 창의성을 펼쳐라!

Many think that creativity is a gift given to few people.

많은 사람들은 창의력이 소수의 사람들에게 주어지는 재능이라고 생각한다.

 

Is this really true?

이것이 정말 사실일까?

 

Can't ordinary people like you and me be creative?

여러분과 나와 같은 평범한 사람들은 창의적일 수 없을까?

 

The following are some examples that tell us creativity is not a matter of talent or a gift, but is a matter of perspective nourished by passion and hard work.

다음은 창의력이 재능의 문제가 아니라 열정과 노력으로 길러진 관점의 문제라는 것을 우리에게 말해주는 몇 가지 사례이다.

 

Tiny but Shiny

작지만 빛나는

You would probably think of using a pencil to write or draw something.

여러분은 아마도 뭔가를 쓰거나 그리기 위해 연필을 사용하는 것을 생각할 것이다.

 

You might not imagine a pencil actually being a creation itself.

여러분은 연필이 실제로는 창작품 그 자체가 될 수 있다는 것을 상상하지 못할지도 모른다.

 

In fact, a man named Dalton M. Ghetti looked at a pencil as art, not just as a means to create it.

Dalton was like most other sculptors in that he worked with large objects.

One day in his twenties, however, he saw the beauty in small living things such as ants and spiders, and suddenly wanted to share this perspective with others.

His artistic experiments with hands began in 1990 when he started to use body painting techniques for a variety of purposes like advertising and exhibitions.

He was an art major, and his interest in wildlife protection led him to be increasingly involved in "handimals."

For many street artists, the city where they live is the canvas for their artwork.

Though their work is not considered mainstream, their ideas are bright and innovative.

거리는 살아나고 우리에게 정말 놀라운 이야기를 들려주며, 암울한 도시 환경 속에서 바쁜 삶을 사는 사람들에게 활기를 불어넣는다.

 

Lyon, a city in France, is famous for its murals.

프랑스의 도시 Lyon(리옹)은 벽화로 유명하다.

 

The city greets its visitors with its story-telling murals scattered all around it.

그 도시는 도시 주변에 흩어져 있는 이야기를 담은 벽화로 방문객들을 맞이한다.

 

At a glance, there seem to be many buildings that line the stairs in the picture above.

한눈에 보기에, 위에 있는 그림 속에는 계단을 따라 늘어서 있는 빌딩들이 많은 것처럼 보인다.

 

However, the picture is a giant mural painted on a building wall.

그러나 그 그림은 건물 벽에 그려진 거대한 벽화다.

 

It looks so real that whoever happens to see it may be tempted to take the steps up to visit with those painted men and women.

Creative people are not magicians.

For these reasons, we can see the expressive creativity of many different forms of art in everyday objects we see around us.

그 이런 이유들로, 우리는 우리 주변에서 보는 일상의 사물에서 많은 다양한 형태의 예술을 표현하는 창의성을 볼 수 있다.
