Panyee FC's story surprised Thailand after the Youth Soccer Championship.

판이 FC의 이야기가 청소년 축구 선수권 대회 이후 태국을 놀라게 했다. 

 

The team didn't make it to the finals, but they're still winners.

그 팀이 결승까지 간 건 아니었지만, 그들은 여전히 승자이다. 

 

They're from Panyee Island's floating village.

그들은 판이섬의 수상 마을 출신이다. 

 

There isn't any land there. So how did they practice soccer?

그곳에는 땅이 전혀 없다. 그렇다면 그들은 어떻게 축구 연습을 했을까? 

 

The answer is in our interview with Nattapong, a Panyee FC player.

판이 FC의 선수 나타퐁과의 인터뷰에 답이 있다.

 

R (Reporter): First of all, can you tell us about your team?

기(기자): 우선, 당신의 팀에 대해 이야기해 주시겠어요? 

 

How did Panyee FC start?

어떻게 판이 FC가 시작되었죠? 

 

N (Nattapong): My friends and I loved watching soccer on television, but we couldn't play it.

나(나타퐁): 제 친구들과 저는 텔레비전으로 축구 경기 보는 것을 좋아했지만, 그것을 할 수는 없었죠. 

 

Boat racing was the most popular sport in our village.

보트 경주가 우리 마을에서 가장 인기 있는 스포츠였어요. 

 

But one day, a friend said, "Let's make a soccer team!"

그런데 어느 날, 한 친구가 “축구팀을 만들자!”라고 말했어요. 

 

We got excited and decided to try it.

우리는 신나서 해 보기로 결정했죠. 

 

R: But there's no land. How was it possible?

기: 그렇지만 땅이 없잖아요. 그게 어떻게 가능했죠? 

 

N: Many people said that it was impossible.

나: 많은 사람들이 그건 불가능하다고 말했어요. 

 

But we had an idea!

그렇지만 우리는 생각이 있었어요! 

 

First, we tied some old fishing boats together.

우선, 우리는 낡은 고기잡이배 몇 척을 함께 묶었어요. 

 

Then, we put old wood on top of them.

그러고 나서 그것들 맨 위에 오래된 나무를 두었고요. 

 

This became our field.

그게 우리의 경기장이 되었어요. 

 

R: That's interesting! How was the field?

기: 흥미롭군요! 경기장은 어땠나요? 

 

N: It had some problems.

나: 문제가 좀 있었죠. 

 

The field moved a lot and had some nails.

경기장이 많이 움직였고 못들이 좀 있었어요. 

 

It was also wet and slippery, so we played without shoes.

또한 경기장은 젖어 있었고 미끄러워서, 신발 없이 운동을 했어요.

 

R: Let's talk about the semifinals now.

기: 이제 준결승전 이야기를 해 보죠. 

 

Your team was amazing!

당신의 팀은 정말 대단했어요! 

 

N: Thanks. It rained a lot that day.

나: 감사합니다. 그날은 비가 많이 왔어요. 

 

Our shoes got wet and heavy.

우리 신발은 젖고 무거워졌어요. 

 

The other team's players ran faster than us.

다른 팀 선수들은 우리보다 더 빨리 달렸어요. 

 

So we took off our shoes, just like on our own field.

그래서 우리는 우리의 경기장에서처럼 신발을 벗었어요. 

 

In the end, we lost, but we were happy. We did our best.

결국 우리는 졌지만, 행복했어요. 우리는 최선을 다 했거든요. 

 

R: Do you have a final message for our readers?

기: 우리 독자들에게 마지막으로 전하고 싶은 말이 있나요? 

 

N: Many people said that we couldn't do it.

나: 많은 사람들이 우리는 할 수 없을 거라 말했어요. 

 

But we didn't give up.

그렇지만 우리는 포기하지 않았어요.

당신의 꿈을 따르세요! 우리는 꿈이 실현될 거라고 믿어요.
