Find the True King!

진짜 왕을 찾아라!

Narrator: In Piccapoo, a small country, the people were waiting for their new king.

해설자: 작은 나라인 Piccapoo에서는 국민들이 새로운 왕을 기다리고 있었다.

 

The old king told Ali, his little helper, “The new king is young and smart.

나이 든 왕은 그의 어린 시종인 Ali에게 “새로운 왕은 젊고 똑똑해.

 

He has bright blue eyes.

그의 눈은 선명한 푸른색이지.

 

Our people will be very happy with him.

우리 국민들은 그를 아주 마음에 들어 할 거야.

 

Please help him with all your heart.”

부탁이니 온 마음을 다해 그를 도와주게나.”라고 말했다.

 

Then the old king went on a long trip.

그러고 나서 나이 든 왕은 긴 여행을 떠났다.

 

Two days later, Ali faced a big problem.

이틀 후, Ali는 큰 문제에 직면했다.

 

Ali: Mr. Wise! Mr. Wise!

Ali: Wise 선생님! Wise 선생님!

 

Mr. Wise: What is it, Ali?

Mr. Wise: 무슨 일인가, Ali?

 

Ali: Two young men came to me, and both told me that they were the new king.

Ali: 두 젊은이가 제게 찾아왔는데요, 둘 다 자신이 새로운 왕이라고 말했어요.

 

They all look young and smart.

그들은 모두 젊고 똑똑해 보여요.

 

Also, both of them have bright blue eyes!

게다가 둘 다 눈이 선명한 푸른색이에요!

 

Who is the real king?

누가 진짜 왕일까요?

 

Mr. Wise: Hmm....(thinking, then his eyes shining) I have an idea!

Mr. Wise: 음⋯. (생각을 하다가 눈을 빛내며) 좋은 생각이 있네!

 

Narrator: That afternoon, Mr. Wise took the two young men to the forest.

해설자: 그날 오후, Mr. Wise는 두 젊은이를 숲으로 데리고 갔다.

 

Then Mr. Wise gave them some little seeds.

그러고 나서 Mr. Wise는 그들에게 작은 씨앗을 조금씩 주었다.

 

In a small voice, he said, “Picca-Picca-Poo-Poocca!”

그는 작은 목소리로 ‘피카–피카–푸–푸카!’라고 말했다.

 

The two men watched it with big round eyes.

두 젊은이는 눈을 크고 동그랗게 뜨고 그것을 지켜봤다.

 

Mr. Wise: You each must plant one seed.

Mr. Wise: 자네들은 각자 씨앗 하나를 심어야 하네.

 

In the morning, it will grow into a purple flower.

아침에 그것은 자라서 보라색 꽃이 될 거야.

 

And it will show me the true king.

그러면 그 꽃이 내게 진짜 왕을 가르쳐 줄 걸세.

 

Narrator: The next day, the four people went to the forest.

해설자: 다음 날 네 사람은 숲으로 갔다.

 

They saw that there was only one purple flower.

그들은 보라색 꽃이 한 송이만 있는 것을 보았다.

 

It was from King One’s seed.

그것은 King One의 씨앗에서 자란 것이었다.

 

King One: Look at that! I am the true king!

King One: 저걸 보시오! 내가 진짜 왕이오!

 

Mr. Wise: You’re wrong. You planted the flower at night!

Mr. Wise: 자네가 틀렸네. 자네는 밤에 그 꽃을 심었지!

 

I watched you from the tower.

나는 탑에서 자네를 지켜봤다네.

 

This means that you are not the real king.

이것은 자네가 진짜 왕이 아니라는 뜻이지.

 

King One: What?

King One: 뭐라고?

 

Mr. Wise: You might worry that the seed was not growing fast.

Mr. Wise: 자네는 씨앗이 빨리 자라지 않을까 봐 걱정했겠지.

 

But, the true king did not need to worry about it.

하지만 진짜 왕은 그것을 걱정할 필요가 없었네.

 

Actually, these are not real seeds.

사실 이것들은 진짜 씨앗이 아니라네.

 

King One: (turning red) How could you!

King One: (얼굴을 붉히며) 어떻게 나한테!

 

Narrator: Ali pointed to the road, and the first young man ran away.

해설자: Ali가 길을 가리키자, 첫 번째 젊은이는 도망쳤다.

 

Ali: (turning to King Two) You are the true king

Ali: (King Two를 향하며) 당신이 진짜 왕이시군요!
