Six-Degree Rise

The Earth is a beautiful blue planet.

지구는 아름다운 푸른 행성이다.

 

People live on it.

사람들이 이곳에 산다.

 

It is also home to many kinds of animals and plants.

지구는 또한 많은 종류의 동물과 식물의 집이기도 하다.

 

But, the temperature of the Earth is going up.

하지만 지구의 온도가 올라가고 있다.

 

Small changes in temperature will bring about many problems.

온도의 작은 변화는 많은 문제를 일으킬 것이다.

 

Two-degree rise:

2도 상승:

The ice in the Arctic and Greenland melts.

북극과 그린란드의 얼음이 녹는다.

 

Polar bears lose their homes and cannot find food easily.

북극곰은 집을 잃고 먹이를 쉽게 찾을 수 없다.

 

They have to move across wide areas for their food.

그들은 먹이를 찾아 넓은 지역으로 이동해야 한다.

 

Four-degree rise:

4도 상승:

The sea level rises very high.

해수면이 매우 높이 상승한다.

 

Lots of cities on the seaside sink under water.

해안가의 많은 도시들이 물 아래로 잠긴다.

 

Some islands disappear.

일부 섬들은 사라진다.

 

Many places become deserts.

많은 곳들이 사막으로 변한다.

 

The Amazon rain forests disappear.

아마존 열대 우림은 사라진다.

 

Six-degree rise:

6도 상승:

The Earth is like a big fireball.

지구는 거대한 불덩어리와 같다.

 

Most living things die from the heat.

대부분의 생명체는 열 때문에 죽는다.

 

Huge storms destroy everything.

거대한 폭풍이 모든 것을 파괴한다.

 

People, animals, and plants cannot live in this hot place!

사람과 동물, 식물은 이 뜨거운 곳에서 살 수 없다!

 

Isn’t this scary?

이것이 무섭지 않은가?

 

The temperature of the Earth will rise six degrees in a short time.

지구의 온도는 짧은 시간 안에 6도 상승할 것이다.

 

We have to do something.

우리는 무언가를 해야 한다.

 

We can save the Earth.

우리는 지구를 구할 수 있다.
