Sally the Salmon

From the beginning, Sally was different.

처음부터 Sally는 달랐다. 

 

She was smaller than her friends, but she could jump higher.

그녀는 그녀의 친구들보다 작았지만 더 높게 점프할 수 있었다. 

 

She enjoyed jumping and practiced it every day.

그녀는 점프하는 것을 즐겼고 매일 점프를 연습했다. 

 

Soon, Sally and her friends left home.

곧 Sally와 그녀의 친구들은 고향을 떠났다. 

 

They swam down the river and went to the ocean.

그들은 강을 따라 헤엄쳐 내려가 바다로 갔다. 

 

On her way, Sally practiced her special jumps.

가는 도중에 Sally는 자신의 특별한 점프를 연습했다.

 

Years later, Sally and her friends had to go home to the river and lay eggs.

몇 년 후, Sally와 그녀의 친구들은 고향인 강으로 가서 알을 낳아야 했다. 

 

They swam against the current and jumped over many waterfalls.

그들은 물살을 거슬러 헤엄쳤고 많은 폭포를 뛰어 넘었다. 

 

Then, they met a bear.

그 다음에 그들은 곰을 만났다. 

 

“We’ll never make it,” said one salmon.

“우리는 결코 성공하지 못할 거야,” 한 연어가 말했다. 

 

“We’ll all die. We should go back,” said another.

“우리 모두 죽게 될 거야. 우리는 돌아가야 해,” 다른 연어가 말했다. 

 

“No,” Sally said, “Keep swimming.

“아니야.” Sally가 말했다, “계속 헤엄쳐. 

 

I will go first. Don’t worry and trust me.”

내가 첫 번째로 갈게. 걱정 말고 나를 믿어.”

 

Sally swam faster than her friends.

Sally는 그녀의 친구들보다 더 빨리 헤엄쳤다. 

 

Then, she jumped with all her might.

그 다음에 그녀는 온 힘을 다해 점프했다. 

 

She sprang up one way and then another.

그녀는 이리저리 튀어 올랐다. 

 

It was very surprising.

그것은 매우 놀라웠다. 

 

The bear finally lost focus.

마침내 곰이 초점을 잃었다. 

 

All the salmon swam away safely.

모든 연어들이 안전하게 헤엄쳐 갔다. 

 

Sally and her friends were home at last.

Sally와 그녀의 친구들은 마침내 고향에 도착했다. 

 

They laid millions of eggs.

그들은 수백만 개의 알을 낳았다. 

 

Before long, baby salmon came out of the eggs.

머지않아 새끼 연어들이 알에서 나왔다. 

 

Sally saved a lot of lives with her jumps.

Sally는 그녀의 점프로 많은 생명을 구했다.
