모기 부인과의 인터뷰

It was a hot summer evening.

무더운 여름 저녁이었습니다.

 

Seojun went for a walk in the park.

서준이는 공원에 산책을 갔습니다.

 

Soon, he was sweating.

곧, 그는 땀을 흘리고 있었습니다.

 

Seojun: I'm thirsty. I want something cold to drink. (BUZZ)

서준: 목말라. 뭔가 시원한 것을 마시고 싶어. (윙~)

 

At that moment, something tiny flew at him and bit his arm.

그때에, 뭔가 작은 것이 그에게로 날아와서 그의 팔을 물었습니다.

 

Mrs. Mosquito: Hey, catch me if you can.

모기: 이봐, 나를 잡을 수 있으면 잡아 봐.

 

Seojun: Who are you? What have you done to me?

서준: 너는 누구니? 나한테 무슨 짓을 한 거지?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: I'm a mosquito. I've just finished my dinner.

모기: 나는 모기야. 난 방금 저녁 식사를 마쳤어.

 

Seojun: Where are you from? How did you find me?

서준: 너는 어디에서 왔니? 너는 어떻게 나를 찾은 거야?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: I'm from a nearby river.

모기: 나는 근처 강에서 왔어.

 

I was looking for some blood to drink there.

나는 그곳에서 마실 피를 찾던 중이었지.

 

Then I smelled something sweaty and found you here.

그러다가 땀 냄새를 맡았고 여기서 너를 발견했어.

 

Seojun: How could you smell me from the river?

서준: 너는 어떻게 강에서부터 내 냄새를 맡을 수 있었지?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: Mosquitoes can sense heat and smell very well.

모기: 모기들은 열과 냄새를 매우 잘 감지해.

 

That's why we have survived for millions of years.

그래서 우리가 수백만 년 동안 살아남은 거야.

 

Seojun: Do all mosquitoes drink blood like you?

서준: 모든 모기가 너처럼 피를 마셔?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: No. Only female mosquitoes like me drink blood.

모기: 아니. 오직 나와 같은 암컷 모기만이 피를 마셔.

 

Male mosquitoes only feed on fruit and plant juice.

수컷 모기들은 단지 과일과 식물의 즙만을 먹고 살아.

 

Seojun: That's interesting. So why do you drink blood?

서준: 그거 재미있네. 그럼 너는 왜 피를 마시는 거야?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: I need the protein in blood to lay my eggs.

모기: 알을 낳기 위해서는 핏속의 단백질이 필요해.

 

Seojun: How do you drink blood?

서준: 너는 피를 어떻게 마시는 거야?

 

Do you have sharp teeth?

날카로운 이빨이 있니?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: No, I don't have teeth.

모기: 아니, 나는 이빨이 없어.

 

But I have a long and pointed mouth.

하지만 길고 뾰족한 입이 있지.

 

So I can drink your blood easily.

그래서 나는 너의 피를 쉽게 마실 수 있는 거야.

 

Seojun: After you bit me, I got a bump. It itches.

서준: 네가 나를 문 다음에 부어오른 자국이 생겼어. 가려워.

 

Mrs. Mosquito: I'm sorry to hear that.

모기: 그 얘기를 들으니 유감이군.

 

Make sure you don't scratch it.

그것을 긁지 않도록 해.

 

Also, clean it with alcohol wipes.

또한 그것을 알코올 솜으로 닦아.

 

Seojun: Alcohol wipes? I've never tried that before.

서준: 알코올 솜? 나는 전에 그것을 한 번도 해 보지 않았어.

 

Mrs. Mosquito: It will reduce the itchiness.

Mrs. Mosquito: I have to go. See you soon.

Seojun: Where are you going?

Mrs. Mosquito: I'm going back to the river.

모기: 나는 강으로 돌아가려고.

 

Seojun: Wait! A lot of people have suffered from your bites.

서준: 기다려! 많은 사람들이 모기에 물려서 고통 받고 있어.

 

How can we prevent them?

어떻게 우리가 모기에 물리는 것을 예방할 수 있을까?

 

Mrs. Mosquito: Stay cool and wear long sleeves.

모기: 시원하게 지내고 소매가 긴 옷을 입어.

서준: 고마워. 너의 충고를 명심할게.
