이야기가 있는 춤

Why do people dance?

사람들은 왜 춤을 출까요? 

 

They dance to express feelings, give happiness to others, or enjoy themselves.

그들은 감정을 표현하기 위해서, 다른 사람들에게 행복감을 주거나 그들 스스로 즐기기 위해서 춤을 춥니다. 

 

Let's take a look at different kinds of dance around the world.

세계의 다양한 종류의 춤을 살펴봅시다.

 

India: Kathakali

인도: 카타칼리

Kathakali tells a story.

카타칼리에는 이야기가 있습니다. 

 

The dancers tell stories through their body movements.

그 무용수들은 그들의 몸동작을 통해서 이야기합니다. 

 

These stories are usually about a fight between good and evil.

그 이야기들은 주로 선과 악의 싸움에 대한 것입니다. 

 

Dancers who are playing good characters paint their faces green.

선한 역할을 맡은 무용수들은 자신의 얼굴을 초록색으로 칠합니다. 

 

Those who are playing evil characters wear black make-up.

악한 역할을 맡은 무용수들은 검은색 화장을 합니다. 

 

Interestingly, in Kathakali, only men are allowed to dance.

흥미롭게도, 카타칼리에서는 남자들만 춤추는 것이 허락됩니다. 

 

The body movements are so powerful that the dancers need to train for many years.

몸동작이 매우 힘이 넘쳐서 무용수들은 수년 동안 연습을 해야 합니다.

 

New Zealand: Haka When people visit New Zealand, they may meet a group of haka dancers.

The dancers perform this traditional dance with scary faces.

This dance was originally performed by the Maori before a fight.

They wanted to show their strength to the enemy.

The dancers looked as scary as wild animals before fighting.

Nowadays, in New Zealand, rugby players usually perform a haka before a game to show their strength to the other team.

요즘에는, 뉴질랜드에서 럭비 선수들이 주로 경기 전에 다른 팀에게 그들의 힘을 보여 주기 위해서 하카를 춥니다.

 

Korea: Buchaechum

한국: 부채춤 

 

Buchaechum is a traditional Korean fan dance.

부채춤은 한국 전통 춤입니다. 

 

The dancers wear colorful hanbok.

그 무용수들은 다채로운 한복을 입습니다. 

 

They dance with large fans that are painted in bright colors.

그들은 밝은 색으로 칠해진 큰 부채를 가지고 춤을 춥니다. 

 

The dancers move the fans gracefully to show different kinds of beauty.

그 무용수들은 다양한 종류의 아름다움을 보여 주기 위해서 우아하게 부채를 움직입니다. 

 

Their movements look as beautiful as flowers or flying birds.

그들의 움직임은 꽃 또는 날아가는 새들만큼 아름답게 보입니다. 

 

In Korea, Buchaechum is so popular that people can see it in many traditional festivals.

한국에서 부채춤은 너무 인기가 있어서 사람들은 많은 전통 축제에서 그것을 볼 수 있습니다.
