세윤이의 첫 온라인 판매

Seyun rides his bike to school every day.

세윤이는 매일 학교에 자전거를 타고 갑니다. 

 

He likes his bike, but he is taller and stronger this year.

세윤이는 자신의 자전거를 좋아하지만, 그는 올해 키가 더 크고 힘도 더 세졌습니다. 

 

His bike has become too small for him, so he wants to buy a bigger, faster one.

그의 자전거는 그에게 너무 작아져서, 그는 더 크고 더 빠른 자전거를 사기를 원합니다. 

 

However, he does not have enough money in his savings account.

하지만, 그는 자신의 예금 계좌에 충분한 돈을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 

 

What can he do? Suddenly, Seyun had an idea.

그가 무엇을 할 수 있을까요? 갑자기, 세윤이는 아이디어가 떠올랐습니다. 

 

“My old bike is almost as good as a new one.

“내 오래된 자전거는 거의 새것과 다름없이 좋아. 

 

Maybe I can sell it and add the money to buy a new one.”

아마 나는 그것을 팔고 새것을 사기 위한 돈에 보탤 수 있을 거야.”

 

He acted fast.

그는 빠르게 행동했습니다. 

 

He took a photo of his bike with his smartphone and posted the picture, with a short comment, on an online market:

그는 스마트폰으로 자신의 자전거 사진을 찍었고, 짧은 설명과 함께 온라인 장터에 사진을 게시했습니다. 

 

“Used bike in excellent condition. Only 100,000 won. Please text me.”

“훌륭한 상태의 중고 자전거. 단돈 십만 원. 문자 주세요.” 

 

He was excited, thinking about the bike he planned to buy.

세윤이는 자신이 구입하려고 계획한 자전거에 대해 생각하며 신이 났습니다. 

 

He could see himself riding the shiny new bike.

그는 자신이 빛나는 새 자전거를 타고 있는 것을 상상할 수 있었습니다. 

 

He could not wait to get a reply to his online advertisement.

세윤이는 자신의 온라인 광고에 대한 대답이 오는 것을 무척 기다렸습니다. 

 

Every few minutes he checked the number of hits.

몇 분마다 그는 조회 수를 체크했습니다. 

 

As the number of hits went up, his expectations went up too.

숫자가 올라갈수록 그의 기대도 덩달아 올라갔습니다. 

 

One hour passed, then two, and finally a whole day, but he received no texts.

한 시간이 지나고, 두 시간이 지나고, 마침내 하루가 지났지만 세윤이는 문자를 받지 못했습니다. 

 

Nobody seemed to want his bike.

아무도 그의 자전거를 원하지 않는 것처럼 보였습니다. 

 

New postings by other people pushed his post down the list.

다른 사람들의 새 게시물이 그의 게시물을 리스트에서 밀어냈습니다. 

 

His heart began to sink.

세윤이의 가슴이 내려앉기 시작했습니다.

 

“What’s wrong with my posting? Is my bike not attractive enough?”

‘내 포스팅에 무슨 문제가 있지? 내 자전거가 충분히 매력적이지 못한가?’

 

He searched on the Internet for tips on how to sell online.

세윤이는 온라인에서 판매하는 방법에 대한 조언을 찾기 위해 인터넷을 검색했습니다. 

 

Then he realized what he had done wrong.

곧 그는 자신의 잘못을 깨달았습니다. 

 

He had been too hasty and too greedy.

세윤이는 너무 성급했고 너무 욕심이 많았습니다. 

 

He had not given enough information to the possible buyers.

그는 구매 가능성이 있는 사람들에게 충분한 정보를 주지 않았습니다. 

 

Also, when compared to other bicycles, his price was too high.

또한, 다른 자전거들과 비교했을 때 그의 가격은 너무 높았습니다. 

 

He wrote a new posting with a longer description of the bike.

세윤이는 자신의 자전거에 대한 더 긴 묘사가 있는 새 게시물을 작성했습니다. 

 

He added more photos to show his bike from different angles.

그는 자신의 자전거를 다른 각도에서 보여 주기 위해서 더 많은 사진들을 첨부했습니다. 

 

“Twenty-four inch bicycle. Excellent condition. Always kept indoors.

새것처럼 탐. 스크래치 매우 적음. 12-14세에게 좋음. 8만 원.”

 

This time he got several texts.

이번에 그는 여러 통의 문자 메시지를 받았습니다. 

 

Sadly, they all asked for a lower price.

애석하게도, 그들은 모두 더 낮은 가격을 요청했습니다. 

 

It was hard to accept at first, but finally he sold his bike for 70,000 won.

처음에는 받아들이기 어려웠지만, 마침내 그는 자신의 자전거를 칠만 원에 팔았습니다. 

 

He met the buyer, handed over his bike, and got the money he needed.

세윤이는 구매자를 만나 자전거를 건네주고, 그가 필요했던 돈을 받았습니다. 

 

Now he could get a new bike.

이제 세윤이는 새 자전거를 살 수 있습니다. 

 

He felt both happy and sad.

그는 기쁘고 슬픈 감정을 동시에 느꼈습니다. 

 

He was sad to see his old bike go, but he was happy with himself because he had learned a lot and grown up a bit through the experience.

세윤이는 자신의 오래된 자전거가 떠나는 것을 봐서 슬펐지만, 이 경험을 통해 자신이 많은 것을 배우고 조금 더 성장한 것이 기뻤습니다.
