What word in the English language is always spelled incorrectly?

영어로 무슨 단어가 항상 잘못 써지는가? 

 

If long and difficult words come to mind, take another guess. Any ideas?

길고 어려운 단어가 떠오른다면, 다른 추측을 해 보자. 생각나는 게 있는가? 

 

The answer is the word “incorrectly” itself!

답은 “틀리게(incorrectly)”라는 단어 그 자체이다! 

 

Although this may seem to be just a nonsense question, there is much more to it than meets the eye.

이것은 그저 넌센스 질문처럼 보일지도 모르지만, 그것에는 눈에 보이는 것보다 훨씬 더 많은 것이 있다. 

 

The way most people approach this question shows that they tend to think “inside the box,” which means thinking in a traditional way.

Sometimes, however, this doesn’t help you solve challenging problems.

One day, a farmer challenged an engineer, a physicist, and a mathematician to a game in which the person who fenced off the largest area with the smallest amount of wire would win.

어느 날, 한 농부가 엔지니어, 물리학자, 수학자에게 최소한의 양의 철사로 가장 넓은 지역에 울타리를 치는 사람이 이기는 게임을 제의했다. 

 

It seemed that everyone had his or her own way of thinking.

모두가 각자의 생각하는 방식을 가지고 있는 것 같았다. 

 

The engineer made a large circle with her wire.

엔지니어는 그녀의 철사로 큰 원을 만들었다. 

 

The physicist made a long fence, using less wire than the engineer’s.

He said that the fence could be an infinitely long straight line and would fence in half of the earth.

Finally, the mathematician laughed at the other two and presented her idea to the farmer.

Quite surprised, the farmer announced that the mathematician was the winner.

You might remember the story of the egg of Columbus.

People told Columbus that his discovery of the New World was not a big deal.

Second Round: Use Your Imagination to Expand What You Can See

It is also helpful to step out of your comfort zone and look beyond what you can see.

안주하는 영역에서 벗어나 눈에 보이는 것 너머를 보는 것도 도움이 될 것이다.

There once lived a rich king.
