Together We Are Strong!

함께라서 우리는 강해요!

Some animals live in groups.

어떤 동물들은 무리를 지어 산다. 

 

They always help and care for each other.

그들은 항상 서로를 돕고 돌본다. 

 

Let’s meet two different animal groups: sea otters and meerkats.

서로 다른 두 동물 무리, 해달과 미어캣을 만나 보자.

 

Sea otters live together in groups of 10 to 100.

해달은 열 마리에서 백 마리로 이루어진 집단으로 모여 산다. 

 

Look at the pictures. The sea otters are sleeping together in the sea.

사진들을 보라. 해달들이 바다에서 함께 자고 있다. 

 

Some are holding hands.

어떤 해달들은 손을 잡고 있다. 

 

Some are leaning on each other. Why?

몇몇은 서로에게 기대고 있다. 왜 그럴까? 

 

In the sea, the waves are too strong.

바다에서는 파도가 너무 세다. 

 

They can wash the sea otters away.

파도가 해달들을 쓸어 갈 수 있다. 

 

What about the babies?

새끼들은 어떤가? 

 

Mother sea otters take care of them.

어미 해달이 새끼를 돌본다. 

 

They are holding their babies on their stomachs.

어미는 새끼를 자신의 배에 올려놓는다. 

 

The babies feel safe with their mothers.

새끼는 어미와 함께 있어 안전함을 느낀다.

 

Meerkats live in a dangerous wild desert.

미어캣은 위험한 야생의 사막에서 산다. 

 

Enemies are everywhere.

적들은 도처에 있다. 

 

So they live in a large group.

그래서 그들은 큰 무리를 지어 산다. 

 

Look! One meerkat is standing straight up.

보라! 미어캣 한 마리가 똑바로 서 있다. 

 

What is he doing?

그는 무엇을 하고 있는가? 

 

He’s watching out for enemies.

그는 적들이 오는지 살피고 있다. 

 

Meanwhile, the other meerkats are resting or looking for food.

그동안 다른 미어캣들은 휴식을 취하거나 먹이를 찾는다. 

 

They look relaxed.

그들은 편안해 보인다. 

 

Oh, no! A scary cobra is coming.

오, 이런! 무서운 코브라 한 마리가 다가오고 있다. 

 

All the meerkats are fighting with the enemy.

모든 미어캣들이 적과 싸운다. 

 

Finally, the cobra is sliding away.

마침내 코브라가 도망가고 있다. 

 

The victory is theirs.

승리는 그들의 것이다.
