Holi, the Festival of Colors

홀리, 색의 축제 

인도 델리의 Amala 

Holi is the most popular festival in my country.

홀리는 우리나라에서 가장 인기 있는 축제예요. 

 

It is usually in March.

그것은 보통 3월에 있어요. 

 

During the festival, we say goodbye to cold winter and hello to warm spring.

축제 기간 동안, 우리는 추운 겨울에게 작별 인사를 하고 따뜻한 봄을 맞는 인사를 해요. 

 

We celebrate the festival everywhere for two days.

우리는 이틀 동안 어디서나 축제를 기념해요. 

 

On the first day, people gather around a big fire at night and sing and dance.

첫째 날, 사람들은 밤에 큰 모닥불 주변에 모여 노래하고 춤을 춰요. 

 

The main event begins the next day.

주요 행사는 다음 날에 시작돼요. 

 

Children and adults chase each other with gulal.

어린이들과 어른들이 'gulal'을 지니고 서로를 쫓아다녀요. 

 

What is gulal? It is blue, yellow, green and pink powder.

'gulal'이 무엇이냐고요? 그것은 파랑, 노랑, 초록, 분홍의 가루예요. 

 

It’s a lot of fun to run around and throw colorful powder at everyone.

주변을 뛰어다니며 형형색색의 가루를 모든 사람들에게 던지는 것은 정말 재미있어요. 

 

We also join street parades!

우리는 거리 행진에도 참가해요!

 

White Nights Festival

Have you heard of the White Nights?

‘백야’에 대해 들어 본 적이 있나요? 

 

Every summer, this amazing thing happens in my hometown.

매년 여름, 이 놀라운 일이 제 고향에서 일어나요. 

 

The night sky does not get completely dark.

밤하늘이 완전히 어두워지지 않아요. 

 

During that time, we hold the White Nights Festival.

그 기간 동안, 우리는 백야 축제를 열어요. 

 

It usually starts in May and lasts for about a month.

축제는 보통 5월에 시작되고 약 한 달 동안 지속돼요. 

 

During the festival, there is a ballet or an opera almost every night.

축제 기간 동안, 거의 매일 밤 발레나 오페라 공연이 있어요. 

 

The most popular event is the Scarlet Sails celebration.

가장 인기 있는 행사는 ‘붉은 돛’ 축하 행사예요. 

 

A boat with red sails slowly appears on the river.

빨간 돛을 단 배가 강 위에 서서히 나타나요. 

 

Soon, fireworks begin and a water show follows.

곧, 불꽃놀이가 시작되고 물 쇼가 이어져요. 

 

You can also hear musicians playing beautiful live music.

여러분은 또한 음악가들이 아름다운 라이브 음악을 연주하고 있는 것을 들을 수 있어요.

 

Kiruna Snow Festival

키루나 눈 축제

스웨덴 키루나의 Ebba 

Winter is my favorite season because of the Kiruna Snow Festival.

겨울은 키루나 눈 축제 때문에 제가 가장 좋아하는 계절이에요. 

 

The festival starts in the last week of January and goes on for five or six days.

축제는 1월 마지막 주에 시작해서 5일이나 6일 동안 계속돼요. 

 

The largest event is the snow design competition.

가장 큰 행사는 눈 디자인 대회예요. 

 

The artists shape huge piles of snow into animals, buildings, and other beautiful artworks.

예술가들이 거대한 눈 덩어리를 동물, 건물, 그리고 다른 아름다운 작품으로 만들어요.

 

People watch the artists shaping their works from beginning to end.

사람들은 예술가들이 그들의 작품을 만들고 있는 것을 처음부터 끝까지 지켜봐요. 

 

My favorite activity is the dog sled ride.

제가 가장 좋아하는 활동은 개 썰매 타기예요. 

 

It is amazing to fly through a world of snow on a dog sled.

개 썰매를 타고 눈 세상을 날아가는 것은 정말 놀라워요.
